ACRE and CAN
ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) produces a wide range of information sheets, books and other publications (including model documents and management checklists) on various topics about the day-to-day management and governance of village halls and community buildings. These are well-written and very useful publications which answer many questions that arise about running your village and community buildings.
The range of topics (which covers in excess of 40 subjects – dealing with everything from planning matters to licensing and finances) is constantly updated, so you can be sure that your Committees/Trustees will always have access to the most recent guidance. The latest catalogue of publications was updated in 2023 and can be found here.
Please note that whilst there may be a small charge to download or order paper copies of all publications directly from ACRE, you can get FREE electronic copies of the relevant information sheets by emailing Tracey Morgan of Community Action Northumberland (CAN), which is a member of the ACRE network. Tracey is the designated Local Village Halls Advisor for Northumberland.
